Begonia Rough Sketch

Earlier yesterday, I had stopped at the local garden center to pick up some salad and pickled beets, when I noticed this Begonia by the cash register. I couldn’t resist, I knew I had to draw it! So home it came and today I spent part of the afternoon drawing it. Line drawing is done with 2H pencil, lettering with Tombow Dual Brush black marker.

Now that I have a line drawing, I can use it to transfer the drawing to other surfaces like vellum or watercolour paper. Haven’t decided yet.

Echinacea purpurea – Eastern Purple Coneflower

This illustration was created using just a little watercolor to determine shadows and highlights and Faber-Castell Polychromos color pencils for all detail work. All that needs to be done now is to create museum quality giclee prints and delivery to the exhibit location in Ancaster, Ontario.

First blooms of the season

Decided to take some photos of my own garden, before a trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. Always good to check that lenses are clean and battery is fully charged!
